Clint Niosi with Good Night and Good Morning

North Texas songwriter Clint Niosi, known for his literary lyrics and black humor, is set to tour the west coast along with Chicago’s acclaimed acoustic-ambient group Good Night and Good Morning. Good Night and Good Morning will be playing their own set of music as well as serving as a portion of Clint Niosi’s backing band. The bands will be playing selected dates through mid July.

While residing in rural Illinois, Good Night & Good Morning has recorded and released two EPs and have enjoyed many weeks on tour to promote them. These quiet songs signify subtlety and reservation, complimented with video projections when performed live. The intent of their third release, an untitled five-song ep, was to construct an atmosphere of delicacy and wistfulness that is grounded by refined instrumentation. Vibraphone, trumpet and harp accompany cohesive yet ephemeral songwriting. In many ways this collection of songs marked artists in transition. After its May 2009 release and several weeks of performances in its support, the two relocated to Chicago. Throughout months of new thoughts and collaborations with other artists, GN&GM has continued to tour and record, releasing short-run albums featuring these experiments. I’m just checking in. Things have been going well out here in Fort Worth where lots of recording for the new album has been underway. I’m in the thick of it now…and there is much more work to be done…but I look forward to having some new songs to show you in the coming months. My friend, the great photographer Paul Leicht has been filming some of the recording sessions as we go…so there will be something in some form to share from that soon.
The only other music related news I have to share is that in this week’s FW Weekly my song “My Mephistophilis” was listed as one of the “Decade’s Best”. It was certainly a surprise and an honor to make any sort of decade list, and it put a little wind in my sails as we continue working on the new material. My thanks to the folks at FW Weekly for remembering me.
